A Chess Set For Me And One For Him
You may be surprised to learn I play contract, tournament bridge. I am a Life Master but I also have a life. So the tournaments I play in are local and sometimes regional. I’m not a fanatic but it is my serious hobby. People who play bridge generally don’t play chess. People who play chess generally don’t play bridge. It’s kind of like the Cubs and the Cardinals fans. And I don’t get why that is. Do we each think we are the best? Do we think we don’t have time to master both. They are both challenging, time-consuming, mind-expanding activities, sure it’s not as brain packed as those sudoku games. I think I’ll start a chess-bridge club. I’ll keep you posted.
For me to play Chess - it needs to be played faster.
Although many chess games go on for hours some players prefer quicker, action packed games. For those players an essential piece in their chess set is a chess clock. This makes players think more quickly and sometimes act more rashly then if they were given unlimited time to think about their move. Time to Buy A Chess Set
I just bought a new chess set for my birthday. I already own a couple. But most chess sets are white and black, pine and walnut, tan and brown or some other dark light combination. This one is different: it has a Red Queen, in fact one whole side is red like the chessmen from Alice Through the Looking Glass. They are opposed by white pieces of course so two White Knights are there to assist Alice as well. I have always wanted a set like this.
I also got a Chess Set for My Husband
So my significant other would feel left out, I got an Alien Vs Predator chess set for my husband that he absolutely loves. It looks like the temple in the movie. It has a very cool way that it opens up and inside the pieces are incredible, one side is alien and one side predator. The pieces are very detail oriented and great to look at. Although it was expensive, it was an investment well worth it because of the style, storage and functionality of the set.
